Terms of Service

Welcome to Reconize. By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using the Reconize macOS software application ("the Software") or visiting our website Reconize.me ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").

1. License Grant

Lil Dog Productions, LLC ("we", "us", or "our") grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use the Software on macOS devices that you own or lease, strictly in accordance with these Terms.

2. User Representations & Authenticity

Reconize provides cryptographic signing (C2PA) and pixel watermarking tools to help assert ownership and integrity of digital media. However:

No Proof of Creation: The application proves consistency of identity (i.e. that the same cryptographic profile signed the file container and the pixels). It is not a legal guarantee of original authorship. You agree to only sign content for which you hold the necessary intellectual property rights.
No Misrepresentation: You agree not to use the Software to sign deepfakes or stolen media with the intent of misleading the public about their origin or authenticity.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

Reconize is free to download and includes a free tier. It also offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions ("Creator" and "Pro") that raise the monthly video quota and unlock photo signing. The following apply to any subscription purchased through the App Store:

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation of purchase.
A subscription automatically renews for the same period at the same price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in your App Store account settings after purchase. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Prices are set by the App Store and may vary by region; Apple's Small Business Program terms apply. All billing, refunds, and payment data are handled by Apple, not by us.

4. Intellectual Property

All title, ownership rights, and intellectual property rights in the Software remain the exclusive property of Lil Dog Productions, LLC, except for bundled open-source components (including the Meta VideoSeal model and the c2pa-swift library), which remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their licenses. A full list is available in the App under Settings → About → Third-Party Licenses. The Software is licensed, not sold.

5. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. IN NO EVENT SHALL LIL DOG PRODUCTIONS, LLC BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF ATTRIBUTION, COMPRESSION DEGRADATION OF WATERMARKS, OR Keychain ERRORS).

6. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
